Apply for the YFU exchange programme 2024/25

Students who are interested in Ireland now have the opportunity to apply for an exchange year in Ireland in 2024/25. There they will live with a host family, attend the local school and get to know everyday life in Ireland. The young people must be between 15 and 18 years old when they leave in summer 2024.

The exchange programme is organised by the non-profit organisation Deutsches Youth For Understanding Komitee e.V. (YFU), which is committed to intercultural education and tolerance and does not make any financial profit from the programmes. The young people take part in extensive seminars before, during and after the exchange programme. In Ireland, a personal contact person is on hand to answer any questions they may have. To ensure that participation does not depend on the family's financial situation, YFU awards around 300 income-dependent partial scholarships every year. Further information on the Ireland exchange programme can also be found online at www.yfu.de/irland (external link).

Young people who do not have the opportunity to spend a year abroad themselves can also spend an exchange year at home with YFU: As a host family for one of around 300 exchange students who travel to Germany every year with YFU to spend a school year here - including Irish young people!

Please note that we only refer to the exchange programme and are not involved in any way. For questions, please contact YFU.
